USB data logger for weather stations that downloads data to computers. Customers said it "does what it is supposed to do" when working. However, many experienced significant software setup difficulties, communication failures, and outdated documentation. Some found it "easy to install," while others faced non-functional units requiring replacement and poor support responses.

Weatherlink software issue

The data logger is working OK. arrived promptly, and is now plugged into a replacement ("old style") Davis VP2 wireless console. Unfortunately, however, the enclosed manual explaining how to download the Weatherlink software seems to have been overtaken by events. On the relevant Weatherlink.com "My Account" page, the option for download no longer exists. I am in contact with Davis tech support at present on this issue, who initially also believe the download option exists on the Weatherlink web page. (I understand the new style "smart" Davis console has no data logger fitted: data is transmitted to virtual storage, and a subsription is required for downloading data to a computer via Weatherlink software.) I am not a happy bunny on this matter!

Still Waiting!!

The first datalogger wouldn't communicate and neither would the second. Both, along with the VUE console have been returned for repair/replacement. Two weeks since all were returned to the supplier - still waiting for any type of communication!!

I probably should have reseached Davis more prior to making the initial purchase.

Poor Customer Service - Poor Product

I purchased this product on 11th December. It's still not interfacing and the second unit sent out has the same problem.

Customer support was initially OK but the problem has not been resolved. Customer support now seems to have dried up.

The main weather station is OK but is expensive as a freestanding device. With that in mind, the whole Davis purchase looks as though it will be returned as it doesn't work.

We had a lot of trouble getting the software running properly (and we have decades of experience in setting up analytical instruments). However, it's now working and we are successfully downloading data for processing on our desktop computers, which is what we wanted to do. So hours of fun ahead correlating weather data with magnitude & quality of fruit & veg harvests.

Does what it is supposed to do.

No Weatherlink software CD was included (as it said it would be in the product details) but it was easy to down load from their web site (details given in the installation leaflet). The instructions are not the best but I installed the free basic software and it worked fine the first time. I advise reading the instructions through carefully before you begin installation and setup.

In combination with the Davis Vantage Vue it provides a very comprehensive analysis of all of the logged variables as graphs and also as a real time display option. So far I am very satisfied with the performance.
